We Are Moving to a Total Triage System
To help us provide the right care, from the right clinician, at the right time, our practice will be introducing Accurx Total Triage from Monday 28th September 2026.
What is Total Triage?
Total Triage means that all requests for GP appointments and clinical advice will first be reviewed by a clinician.
Instead of booking directly into a GP appointment, patients will be asked to complete a short online form through our secure Accurx system. A clinician will then review the information provided and decide on the most appropriate next step.
This helps us ensure that patients receive the care they need as quickly and safely as possible.
How Does It Work?
Step 1
Submit your medical request using our online Accurx Total Triage form via our website.
The Triage system will be open Monday – Friday 0800 to 1830.
Step 2
Your request will be reviewed by a clinician.
Step 3
We will contact you with the most appropriate outcome, which may include:
- Advice by text message
- Advice from a GP or other healthcare professional
- A telephone consultation
- A face-to-face appointment
- Referral to another member of the practice team, such as a Clinical Pharmacist, Emergency Care Practitioner, Practice Nurse or First Contact Physiotherapist
- Signposting to another appropriate service
Please note – if you submit an urgent request, please be available to attend the practice that day if required.
What Are the Benefits?
- Fair and consistent access to appointments
- Faster assessment of urgent problems
- Patients seen by the most appropriate clinician
- Reduced waiting times for those who need urgent care
- Better use of GP appointments for patients with complex medical needs
- Improved continuity of care where appropriate
- No more 8am rush for appointments
What If I Don’t Have Access to the Internet?
We understand that not everyone is able to complete an online form.
If you cannot access the internet, have difficulties using online services, or require additional support, our Reception Team will help you access care through an alternative route.
We remain committed to ensuring our services are accessible to all patients.
What About Urgent Medical Problems?
If your problem is urgent, please still contact the practice as normal.
Our team will ensure that urgent medical concerns are directed appropriately and reviewed as quickly as possible.
Please note – if you submit an urgent request, please be available to attend the practice that day if required.
For life-threatening emergencies, such as:
- Chest pain
- Severe breathing difficulties
- Symptoms of a stroke
- Severe bleeding
- Loss of consciousness
Please call 999 immediately.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this mean I cannot see a GP?
No. If a GP appointment is needed, one will be arranged. Total Triage simply helps us determine the most appropriate care for your needs.
How quickly will my request be reviewed?
You will receive a response from the practice the same working day. This may be advice, signposting or an appointment.
Can I still contact Reception?
Yes. Our Reception Team will continue to support patients and help guide you to the most appropriate service.
The Reception Team will not be able to book GP appointments directly; all requests must first be triaged by a GP.
We appreciate your patience as we introduce this new way of working. Our aim is to improve access to care and ensure that every patient receives the right support, at the right time, from the right healthcare professional.
Thank You for Your Support
